Recently, three 220kV main power transformers (Model SFPZ18-180000/220), manufactured by CEEG, have successfully completed comprehensive and rigorous testing as the core equipment for the Vulcan Environmental Protection Project. The transformers are now ready for shipment, delivering stable and reliable power solutions to Southeast Africa.

Operating in high-temperature and high-humidity tropical environments places extreme demands on transformer performance. To address these challenges, CEEG engineers developed customized reliability solutions for these units. The transformers successfully passed 36 performance tests, including 9 type tests, 25 routine tests, and 2 special tests, with all performance indicators exceeding required standards. Furthermore, 22 of these tests were conducted with on-site customer witness, ensuring full transparency and enabling seamless commissioning upon arrival.

Designed specifically for tropical operating conditions below 1,000 meters altitude, the transformers are equipped with advanced thermal management technologies. The innovative core-and-winding structural design, combined with seven-level temperature control technology and high-efficiency forced air cooling systems, provides precise thermal regulation. Even under sustained high ambient temperatures, the transformers maintain optimal internal temperature levels, ensuring long-term operational reliability.

Through optimized structural configuration and enhanced cooling design, the transformers achieve both high performance and compact dimensions. In addition, significantly reduced losses enable compliance with the latest GB 20052-2024 energy efficiency standard, helping customers lower lifecycle operating costs.

The mature cooling and structural design technologies also ensure low noise and minimal vibration during operation, supporting grid reliability while minimizing environmental impact.
